1 不要 为 明日 自夸，

bùyào wéi míngrì zìkuā,

Don't boast about tomorrow,

因 为 一日 要 生 何事，

yīn wéi yī rì yào shēng héshì,

Because what will happen in a day,

你 尚且 不能 知道。

nǐ shàngqiě bùnéng zhīdào.

You still don't know.

 

 

2 要 别人 夸奖 你，

Yào biérén kuājiǎng nǐ,

Ask others to praise you,

不可 用 口 自夸；

bùkě yòng kǒu zìkuā;

Do not brag about it;

等 外人 称赞 你，

děng wàirén chēngzàn nǐ,

When outsiders praise you,

不可 用 嘴 自称。

bùkě yòng zuǐ zìchēng.

Do not call yourself a mouth.

 

3 石头 重， 沙土沉，

Shítou zhòng, shātǔ chén,

The stones are heavy and the sand is heavy.

愚妄 人 的 恼怒 比这 两样 更重。

yúwàng rén de nǎonù bǐ zhè liǎngyàng gèng zhòng.

A fool's anger is heavier than these two.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4 愤怒 为 残忍，

Fènnù wèi cánrěn,

Anger is cruel,

怒气为 狂 澜， 唯 有 嫉妒，

nùqì wèi kuánglán, wéi yǒu jídù,

Anger is wild, but jealous,

谁 能 敌 得 住呢？

shéi néng dí dé zhù ne?

Who can fight?

 

 

5 当 面 的责备，

Dāngmiàn de zébèi,

Rebuke in person,

强 如背地 的爱情。

qiáng rú bèidì de àiqíng.

Stronger than love.

 

 

6 朋友 加的 伤痕 出于忠诚，

Péngyǒu jiā de shānghén chū yú zhōngchéng,

The scars that a friend adds are out of loyalty,

仇敌 连连 亲嘴 却 是多余。

chóudí liánlián qīnzuǐ què shì duōyú.

The enemy's repeated kisses are redundant.

 

 

 

 

 

7 人 吃 饱了，厌恶 蜂房 的蜜；

Rén chī bǎole, yànwù fēngfáng de mì;

people are full and hate the honey of the hive;

人 饥饿了，一切苦物 都 觉 甘甜。

rén jī'èle, yīqiè kǔ wù dōu jué gāntián.

People are hungry, and all the bitter things feel sweet.

 

 

8 人 离本 处 漂流，

Rén lí běn chù piāoliú,

people drifted from this place,

好像 雀 鸟 离窝 游飞。

hǎoxiàng què niǎo lí wō yóu fēi.

It seems that birds are flying away from the nest.

 

 

 

 

9 膏 油 与香料 使 人心 喜悦，

Gāo yóu yǔ xiāngliào shǐ rénxīn xǐyuè,

Ointments and spices delight the heart,

朋友 诚实 的 劝 教 也是 如此甘美。

péngyǒu chéngshí de quàn jiào yěshì rúcǐ gānměi.

Friends' honest counseling is also so sweet.

 

 

10 你的 朋友 和 父亲 的 朋友，

Nǐ de péngyǒu hé fùqīn de péngyǒu,

Your friends and your father's friends,

你都 不可离弃。

nǐ dōu bùkě líqì.

You must not leave.

你 遭难 的日子，

Nǐ zāonàn de rìzi,

The days of your suffering,

不要 上 弟兄 的家去，

bùyào shàng dìxiōng de jiā qù,

Do n’t go to your brother ’s house,

相近 的 邻舍 强 如 远方 的弟兄。

xiāngjìn de línshè qiáng rú yuǎnfāng de dìxiōng.

Close neighbors are better than brothers in the distance.
